About the position

Elementary School Teachers foster foundational skills in reading, math, science, and social studies for students in grades K-5. They create an engaging, supportive learning environment that encourages curiosity, social development, and academic growth, adapting lessons to meet the needs of each student. Middle School Teachers focus on subject-specific instruction, guiding students in grades 6-8 through early adolescence. They provide specialized education in areas like math, science, language arts, and social studies while helping students develop critical thinking, collaboration, and organizational skills. High School Teachers deliver in-depth instruction in specialized subjects to students in grades 9-12. They prepare students for post-secondary education and career readiness by developing curriculum, fostering independent thinking, and supporting students' social and academic growth through mentorship and guidance. This vacancy is at a school designated as an 'Innovation School.'

Responsibilities

  • Help all students develop competence and confidence simultaneously through a balance of acquiring basic skills and developing conceptual understanding.
  • Monitor, supervise, coordinate and enforce rule of conduct and behavior for assigned students, and reinforce positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy.
  • Observes, evaluates, reports and records students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
  • Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.
  • Prepare educational course outlines, objectives and materials according to curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
  • Present subject matter to students, using various teaching methods and technology, adjusting teaching style and method to meet student learning style.
  • May participate in extra-duty activities as outlined in the teachers' collective bargaining agreement.

Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Education or related field required.
  • Have a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license.
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree is only required for Concurrent Enrollment positions.
