About the position
The Classroom Teacher - Special Education is responsible for providing specialized instruction to students with disabilities, ensuring their academic and social development. This role involves evaluating student progress, implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), and collaborating with other educators and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment. The teacher will be evaluated based on professional practice and student achievement growth, aligning with the Lafayette Parish School System's standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
- Monitor and assess student progress and adjust instruction as needed.
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure inclusive practices.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and needs.
- Participate in professional development and training to enhance teaching practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and implement IEPs.
