About the position
The Teacher for ESE Intensive Support-Behavior (IST-B) at Lake County School District is responsible for providing specialized educational support to students in grades 9-12 with emotional and behavioral challenges. This role focuses on creating a supportive learning environment tailored to the unique needs of each student, ensuring they receive the necessary resources and guidance to succeed academically and socially.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with emotional and behavioral challenges.
- Create a positive and structured classroom environment that promotes learning and behavioral improvement.
- Collaborate with other educators, support staff, and parents to support student success.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed.
- Provide direct instruction and support in academic subjects as well as social skills development.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Experience working with students with emotional and behavioral challenges is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, and staff.
Nice-to-haves
- Certification in Exceptional Student Education (ESE) or related field is preferred.
- Experience in a high school setting is a plus.
