About the position

The Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) is responsible for planning and implementing educational programs tailored to the needs of students with hearing impairments. This full-time position involves collaborating with school staff and families to support student success, conducting evaluations, and participating in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process. The role emphasizes the use of data-driven practices to assess student progress and set learning goals.

Responsibilities

  • Consult and collaborate with school staff and families regarding students' educational deficits.
  • Conduct initial screenings and comprehensive evaluations.
  • Participate in the IEP process to develop present levels of performance, goals, objectives, and treatment recommendations for students qualifying for Special Education services.
  • Provide Special Education sessions using current best practices based on prescribed services in the IEP.
  • Maintain all documentation required by the district, including notes, monthly summaries, and annual IEPs.

Requirements

  • Must hold a current license to practice in the state of California.
  • Have successful experience working with culturally diverse families.
  • Assumes responsibility for ongoing continuing education and professional development.
