About the position

The Teacher for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing is responsible for instructing deaf and hard-of-hearing students in a classroom setting. This role involves teaching academic subjects from the regular curriculum or adapting the curriculum to meet the specific needs of the student population. The position requires proficiency in American Sign Language and knowledge of amplification devices used for the deaf and hard-of-hearing.

Responsibilities

  • Teach academic subjects to deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
  • Adapt curriculum to meet the needs of the student population.
  • Utilize American Sign Language in instruction.
  • Implement the use of amplification devices for students.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local educational regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Deaf Education or related field.
  • Valid state teaching certificate as required by state regulations.
  • Knowledge in Sign Language and amplification devices for the deaf and hard-of-hearing.
  • Experience with deaf and hard-of-hearing students preferred.
  • Current CPR certification if applicable.
  • Current health certificate as per contract or state regulation.
