About the position

The Teacher of French for Grades 9-12 at Gwinnett County Public Schools is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in the French language to high school students. This role involves planning and implementing lessons that align with the district's Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum, fostering an engaging learning environment, and assessing student progress. The teacher will work collaboratively with colleagues and engage with students, parents, and the community to enhance the educational experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plan appropriate learning experiences based on the district AKS curriculum.
  • Demonstrate command of the subject being taught.
  • Develop and prioritize instructional objectives based on district curriculum.
  • Evaluate, select, and modify resources and activities for effective instruction.
  • Communicate specific learning objectives to students and link content to their prior knowledge.
  • Organize content for logical presentation and follow research-based organizational plans.
  • Utilize effective instructional strategies and methods to enhance student learning.
  • Provide formative and summative assessments to measure student progress and achievement.
  • Organize the learning environment to maximize student engagement and time on task.
  • Maintain behavior conducive to learning and establish mutual respect with students.
  • Participate in professional growth and learning activities to improve instructional practices.
  • Maintain professional responsibilities and act as a role model for students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field of education from a PSC approved college or university.
  • Meets Georgia certification requirements in appropriate field of education.
  • Previous teaching experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of GCPS AKS curriculum and effective instructional practices.
  • Ability to integrate technology into instruction to enhance student learning.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
