About the position

The J. Turner Hood Elementary School is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Teacher for Grade 1, covering the anticipated period from October 8, 2024, through January 31, 2025. This position is essential for maintaining the continuity of education for students during this time. As a Long-Term Substitute Teacher, you will engage in unit and lesson planning, direct instruction of students, and assessment of student learning. You will also be available to conference with parents, guardians, and families as needed or requested. Collaboration with the Grade 1 team is crucial to ensure that pacing and learning expectations are maintained throughout the substitute period. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education teaching license in Early Childhood, Grades PreK-2, or teaching license in Elementary, Grades 1-6
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Collaborative working demeanor
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
