About the position

The Teacher - Inclusion/Resource (Kindergarten) at Passaic Board of Education is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to kindergarten students, ensuring a supportive and structured learning environment. The role involves planning and implementing educational programs that meet the diverse needs of students, fostering their growth and development while adhering to district and state educational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction consistent with district programs of study and curriculum.
  • Implement the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals.
  • Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students.
  • Provide a nurturing and positive classroom climate that encourages student responsibility.
  • Develop effective procedures for classroom management and routine school procedures.
  • Evaluate and grade classwork, homework, and tests in a timely manner.
  • Maintain appropriate student records and submit required reports.
  • Assess pupils in accordance with district testing policy and utilize data for instructional planning.
  • Employ instructional methods and materials appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
  • Assist in curriculum development and selection of instructional materials.
  • Assist with the preparation and monitoring of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Contribute to before and after school functions and student activities.
  • Supervise students in non-classroom areas as assigned.
  • Ensure the safety and health of all students and notify administration of unsafe conditions.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Participate in staff and committee meetings and maintain professional relationships.
  • Engage in professional development and collaboration with colleagues.
  • Operate necessary electronic and digital equipment for job functions.
  • Protect confidentiality of records and information.
  • Advise appropriate personnel of any evidence of abuse or neglect.
  • Adhere to New Jersey school law and Board of Education policies.

Requirements

  • Hold a valid New Jersey instructional certificate with appropriate endorsements.
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in education or related field.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of child growth and development, instructional content, and effective strategies.
  • Commitment to providing a supportive learning environment for all students.
  • Pass a criminal history background check and provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residency.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Familiarity with data-driven instructional practices.
  • Ability to engage in professional development activities.
