About the position

The Boston Public Schools is seeking a highly qualified Instructional Technology Teacher for a long-term substitute position. This role is designed for educators who are passionate about teaching and committed to fostering an inclusive and effective learning environment. The teacher will be responsible for delivering instructional technology education to students in grades 10-12, utilizing innovative teaching methods to engage students and promote academic success.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Instructional Technology (Computers) to students in grades 10-12.
  • Set ambitious learning goals for all students and create cognitively demanding tasks.
  • Assess students' understanding regularly and adjust instruction as needed.
  • Demonstrate mastery of content and convey it in creative and engaging ways.
  • Scaffold and differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
  • Build a productive learning environment where every student participates and feels valued.
  • Engage with families to build collaborative relationships in support of student learning.
  • Reflect on teaching practices and seek feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in a collaborative adult learning community.

Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree.
  • Hold a valid Massachusetts Teaching License for Instructional Technology (All Levels).
  • Meet all state and federal guidelines to be fully licensed and 'Highly Qualified' according to NCLB.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience teaching in urban schools.
  • Fluency in one of BPS' official languages: Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, or Somali.
  • Certification in Moderate Disabilities or English as a Second Language.
