The teacher will be expected to work normal school hours, with the possibility of after-school activities and weekend commitments as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and support the mission, vision, and values of Harmony Public Schools.
  • Model and instill a love of learning.
  • Design and implement appropriate instruction of content area(s) assigned in accordance with school standards, curriculum, and student needs.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that maximize student engagement and learning.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching practices and methodologies that reflect diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds to meet individual student needs.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  • Conduct tutoring sessions to meet all students' needs.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
  • Implement a clear and consistent behavior management system while developing students' character and sense of community in the classroom.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
  • Attend department, school, district, and parent meetings.
  • Participate in district and campus staff development and serve on staff committees.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests, and assignments.
  • Take daily attendance.
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs.
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and community members.
  • Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Teaching Certification (Required).
  • Childcare CPR Certification.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in software, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.
