About the position

The Kindergarten Teacher is responsible for providing direct instruction to students, fostering their development as mature and responsible individuals. This role involves creating a conducive learning environment, implementing the district-approved curriculum, and assessing students' academic and social growth. The teacher works under the supervision of the school principal and may assist special needs students as required.

Responsibilities

• Teaches District approved curriculum
• Meets and instructs assigned classes in designated locations and times
• Plans a program of study using various instructional techniques and media
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning
• Takes precautions to protect students and materials
• Assists administration in implementing policies and rules
• Encourages students to maintain standards of classroom behavior
• Guides learning towards curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for lessons
• Assists in diagnosing learning disabilities with district specialists
• Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth and prepares progress reports
• Maintains accurate records as required by law and district policy
• Available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside instructional hours

Requirements

• Valid N.C. teaching license/certificate or ability to obtain one
• Bachelor's degree with a major or 24 semester hours in the subject area to be taught
• Passing score on Praxis II Test in the subject area to be taught
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals
• Ability to compose and write routine reports
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various stakeholders
• Familiarity with basic computer operations and software
• Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs

• Experience in lesson planning
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents
• Skill in oral and written communication
