About the position

The Teacher Language Arts position for Grades 9-12 at Gwinnett County Public Schools is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in language arts to high school students. The role involves planning and implementing lessons based on the district's Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum, assessing student progress, and creating a supportive learning environment that fosters intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development. The teacher will collaborate with colleagues and engage with students, parents, and the community to enhance the educational experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan appropriate learning experiences based on the district AKS curriculum.
• Demonstrate command of the subject being taught.
• Develop and prioritize instructional objectives based on district AKS curriculum.
• Evaluate, select, and modify resources and activities for effective instruction.
• Communicate specific learning objectives to students and link lesson content to their prior knowledge.
• Organize content for presentation in a logical sequence.
• Utilize effective instructional strategies and methods to enhance student learning.
• Provide formative and summative assessments to measure student progress and achievement.
• Organize the learning environment to maximize student engagement and time on task.
• Maintain behavior conducive to learning and establish mutual respect with students.
• Participate in professional growth and learning activities.
• Maintain professional responsibilities and act as a role model for students.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in applicable field of education from a PSC approved college or university.
• Meets Georgia certification requirements in appropriate field of education.
• Previous teaching experience preferred.
• Knowledge of GCPS AKS curriculum and effective instructional practices.
• Ability to integrate technology into instruction to enhance student learning.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
