About the position

The Teacher-Maternity Leave position at Portage Township Schools is designed to engage students in learning while managing their behavior positively. The role involves creating a flexible and supportive classroom environment, developing lesson plans, and providing individualized instruction to meet diverse learning needs. The teacher will collaborate with other staff and maintain effective communication with students and parents to foster a culture of inclusiveness and support.

Responsibilities

• Engage students in learning and manage student behavior positively.
• Prepare students to become productive and responsible citizens.
• Create a flexible program and class environment favorable to learning.
• Establish effective rapport with students and meet individual needs.
• Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge for continuing education.
• Establish positive relationships with students, parents, and staff members.
• Supervise students within assigned areas as needed.
• Develop lesson plans and deliver group and individual instruction.
• Provide accommodations and modifications for diverse learners as required by IEPs and 504 plans.
• Collaborate with other teachers and administrators to address instructional issues.
• Respond to inquiries from students, parents, and guardians regarding the instructional program.
• Create and support a culture that empowers students.

Requirements

• Indiana License to teach in appropriate grade/subject.
