About the position

The Teacher of Adults (Spanish) position at Christina School District is a contracted role focused on delivering high-quality education to adult learners. The instructor will be responsible for preparing and implementing lessons based on the Delaware Adult Education curriculum, ensuring that instruction is tailored to meet the diverse needs of students with varying levels of proficiency. The role requires a strong emphasis on reasoning and problem-solving skills, particularly in a hybrid or virtual learning environment. The instructor will assess student learning continuously and adjust teaching methods accordingly to foster individual and group success. In addition to teaching, the instructor will maintain all necessary documentation and administrative reports, attend staff meetings, and participate in professional development activities. The position also involves referring adult learners facing challenging life issues to appropriate resources and maintaining communication with students who have excessive absences. The instructor must stay updated on current trends in adult education and ensure that safety and security requirements are met in the classroom. This role is integral to the Adult Education program, and the instructor will perform other duties as assigned by the administration in accordance with program policies and practices.

Responsibilities

• Teaching students in assigned subject area(s) with an emphasis on reasoning and problem solving in a hybrid and/or virtual learning environment.
• Assessing students' learning on an ongoing basis and altering instruction to meet group/individual needs.
• Delivering prepared lessons for students associated with the State of Delaware Adult Education curriculum.
• Instructing students individually and/or in groups using various teaching methods and the Delaware Adult Basic Education state curricula.
• Attending staff meetings and state and local sponsored professional development activities periodically.
• Referring adult learners with challenging life issues to appropriate resources.
• Contacting students with excessive absences.
• Preparing and maintaining all required documentation and administrative reports.
• Maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field.
• Ensuring safety and security requirements are met in the classroom area.
• Performing other duties as assigned by the administration in accordance with program's policies and practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Education.
• Hold a State of DE Certification in World Language Teacher - Spanish.
• Minimum of 2 years of successful experience teaching K-12 or adult learners.
• Strong written/oral communication and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated competency in classroom teaching.
• Proficient in the use of technology; specifically, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite.
