About the position

The Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) at TheraPeds of Colorado is a part-time, contract position aimed at providing specialized education to students with hearing impairments in the San Francisco/Oakland area. The role emphasizes collaboration with school districts and offers flexibility in scheduling, including the option to attend IEP meetings virtually. Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
  • Collaborate with school districts to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Attend IEP meetings virtually when available.
  • Manage a manageable caseload of students and provide case management duties.
  • Support students in their educational journey and ensure access to resources.

Requirements

  • Must have a Master's Degree in Special Education (SPED) or Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) or its equivalent.
  • Must be licensed (or eligible) by the California Department of Education.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a DHH teacher.
  • Background and criminal history check required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in classroom management.
  • Teaching Certification in Deaf Studies or related field.
  • Experience in literacy education and special education.
