About the position

Ampersand Therapy is seeking a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing for the 2024-2025 school year. This full-time position involves working in-person with K-12 students, focusing on providing specialized education to those who are deaf or hard of hearing. The role emphasizes equity, community support, and sustainable practices within the educational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and support K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Collaborate with other educators and therapists to enhance student learning.
  • Provide instruction in American Sign Language (ASL) as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and assessments.

Requirements

  • Valid Teacher of the Deaf License.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.
  • Experience in special education.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Knowledge of current best practices in special education.
