About the position

McPherson Elementary School is seeking a part-time (.50 FTE) temporary teacher who is passionate about student learning and committed to innovative educational practices. The role focuses on developing literacy and numeracy skills through standards-based lessons and project-based learning, while fostering a collaborative and dynamic classroom environment. The ideal candidate will engage with families and community members to enhance the learning experience and demonstrate a strong understanding of Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core State Standards integration.

Responsibilities

• Develop standards-based lessons that enhance literacy and numeracy skills without relying on textbooks.
• Implement project-based learning strategies to engage students.
• Utilize PBIS and Restorative Practices to create a collaborative learning environment.
• Build a classroom culture that connects, engages, and challenges students daily.
• Incorporate various technologies to enhance instruction and learning.
• Engage families and community members as experts in student projects and presentations.

Requirements

• Thorough understanding of child development in literacy and numeracy.
• Experience in project-based learning methodologies.
• Proficiency in PBIS and Restorative Practices.
• Ability to build a dynamic and collaborative classroom culture.
• Evidence of effective use of technology in instruction and learning.
• Willingness to involve families and community members in the educational process.
• Understanding of Next Generation Science Standards and integration of CCSS in science or engineering-based PBL units.
• Possession of an English Learner Authorization (ELA) or eligibility for an Emergency ELA permit.
