About the position

The Teacher - PT - Temporary Disaster Recovery Support Position is focused on providing educational support in a recovery and restoration context following damage from a hurricane. This role is specifically tied to the CareerSource North Florida National Dislocated Worker Grant, aiming to foster students' intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth in alignment with district goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Create or select long-range plans based on district and state curriculum priorities.
  • Define goals and objectives for unit and daily lesson plans.
  • Sequence content and activities appropriately.
  • Identify specific intended learning outcomes that are challenging, meaningful, and measurable.
  • Revise lesson plans based on student needs.
  • Plan and prepare a variety of learning activities considering individual student's culture, learning styles, special needs, and socio-economic background.
  • Develop or select instructional activities that foster active involvement of students in the learning process.
  • Plan and prepare lessons and instructional strategies that support the school improvement plan and the district mission.
  • Select, develop, modify, and/or adapt materials and resources that support learning objectives and address students' varying learning styles, backgrounds, and special needs.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, organized, and safe learning environment.
  • Provide a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.
  • Maintain a clean attractive learning environment.
  • Maintain academic focus by using a variety of motivational techniques.
  • Establish and use behavior management techniques that are appropriate and effective.

  • Assist in enforcement of school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
  • Develop and use assessment strategies to assist the continuous development of learners.
  • Interpret and use data for diagnosis, instructional planning, and program evaluation.
  • Use ongoing assessment to monitor student progress and verify that learning is occurring.
  • Provide feedback to students about the appropriateness of responses and quality of work.
  • Communicate individual student progress knowledgeably and responsibly to students, parents, and professional colleagues.
  • Encourage self-assessment by students and assist them in developing plans for improving their performance.
  • Administer standardized tests in accordance with directions provided.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of instructional units and teaching strategies.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of curriculum content.
  • Communicate high expectations for learning for all students.
  • Apply principles of learning and effective teaching in instructional delivery.
  • Monitor learning activities, providing feedback and reinforcement to students.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies appropriate for teaching students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Use appropriate techniques and strategies to enhance critical, creative, and evaluative thinking capabilities of students.
  • Use appropriate materials, technology, and resources to help meet learning needs of all students.
  • Assist students in accessing, interpreting, and evaluating information from multiple sources.
  • Provide appropriate instruction and modifications for students with special needs.
  • Provide quality work for students focused on meaningful, relevant, and engaging learning experiences.
  • Provide instruction on safety procedures and proper handling of materials and equipment.
  • Foster student responsibility, appropriate social behavior, integrity, and respect for cultural diversity.
  • Communicate effectively with other professionals, students, parents, and community.
  • Collaborate with students, parents, school staff, and other appropriate persons to assist in meeting student needs.
  • Provide accurate and timely information to parents and students about academic and behavioral performance.
  • Work with other teachers in curriculum development and sharing ideas and resources.
  • Recognize indicators of student distress or abuse and take appropriate actions.
  • Engage in continuing improvement of professional knowledge and skills.
  • Assist others in acquiring knowledge and understanding of particular area of responsibility.
  • Keep abreast of developments in instructional methodology and curriculum trends.
  • Conduct personal assessments to determine professional development needs.
  • Act in a professional and ethical manner and adhere to the Code of Ethics.
  • Perform assigned duties and maintain confidentiality of student information.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid teaching certificate for elementary education.
  • Experience in curriculum development and instructional planning.
  • Ability to create a positive learning environment and manage classroom behavior.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff.
