The Science Teacher position at Duval County Public Schools is a full-time role focused on guiding elementary students through the learning process in alignment with curriculum goals. Responsibilities

  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in designated locations and times.
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning appropriate to students' maturity and interests.
  • Supervises students to protect them from harmful conditions and ensures their safety.
  • Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides required progress reports.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law and district policy.
  • Diagnoses learning disabilities of students and seeks assistance from district specialists as needed.
  • Assists administration in implementing policies governing student conduct and develops classroom behavior rules.
  • Makes provisions to be available to students and parents for educational purposes outside instructional hours when required.
  • Plans and supervises assignments for teacher aides and evaluates their performance.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on committees as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education Certification in the appropriate subject area.
  • Strong knowledge of subject content.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
  • Ability to plan and implement a program of study that meets individual student needs.
  • Ability to manage students and multiple tasks.

Benefits

  • Starting salary of $48,700 with potential additional referendum money starting at $5400 for the 24-25 school year.
  • Prorated supplement amount for teachers hired during the school year based on the date of hire.
