About the position
The Teacher Secondary - Language Arts position at Fort Collins High School involves instructing secondary level students in language arts, ensuring alignment with the current curriculum and adherence to district and state content standards. The role requires developing and implementing course content, lesson plans, and individualized instruction while fostering a positive classroom environment that supports student growth and engagement.
Responsibilities
- Develop, plan, prepare, and implement course content, format, structure, and schedule.
- Create individualized programs of instruction for students.
- Prepare classroom materials and curriculum.
- Instruct students in large, small, and one-on-one situations.
- Administer, edit, proofread, and grade students' assignments and assessments.
- Create a classroom environment that maximizes instructional opportunity and supervise student behavior.
- Design assessment tasks that allow students to demonstrate understanding in various ways.
- Monitor student growth and progress, adapting support as needed.
- Communicate students' progress and needs with parents/guardians and staff.
- Collaborate with teachers, support personnel, and administrators to enhance instruction.
- Demonstrate a commitment to understanding and accommodating student diversity.
- Participate in department, team, and district meetings, as well as professional growth opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with proper teaching licensure program required.
- Valid Colorado teaching license with appropriate endorsements required.
- Experience instructing students in a classroom setting preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certifications encouraged.
