About the position

The Teacher Secondary Special Education - ILS position is a long-term substitute role aimed at providing coverage for a leave of absence within the Poudre School District. This role focuses on instructing students in Integrated Services/Special Education programs, ensuring adherence to district and state content standards while fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, plan, prepare, and implement course content, materials, and lesson plans.
• Instruct students in various settings including large groups, small groups, and one-on-one situations.
• Organize and facilitate schedules for students and paraprofessionals, assisting in the development of the master schedule for the Integrated Services department.
• Supervise and direct special education paraprofessionals.
• Create a classroom environment that maximizes instructional opportunities and administer discipline when appropriate.
• Monitor student learning and progress, adapting support as needed and maintaining relevant documentation.
• Communicate students' progress and needs with parents/guardians and other staff.
• Collaborate with teachers, support personnel, and outside agencies to enhance instruction and improve student outcomes.
• Demonstrate a commitment to understanding and accommodating student diversity and engaging families in education.
• Participate in various meetings, conferences, and professional growth opportunities.
• Attend work and arrive in a timely manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with proper teaching licensure program required.
• Valid Colorado teaching license with appropriate endorsements required.
• Experience in an educational setting with students with special needs preferred.
• Criminal background check required for hire.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification required within 3 months of hire.
• CPR and First Aid certifications encouraged.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with diverse student populations.
• Familiarity with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
