About the position
Cascade Middle School is seeking a 0.6 FTE 7th & 8th grade World Language Spanish Teacher to join our team of educators for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. The role of the teacher is to help students learn skills and develop attitudes and appreciations that will lead them toward the fulfillment of the District's goals of education. This position is part-time, with a focus on delivering high-quality instruction in Spanish to middle school students, fostering a love for language and culture, and preparing students for future academic success. The teacher will be responsible for creating engaging lesson plans, assessing student progress, and adapting teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching and committed to creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and growth.
Responsibilities
- Teach Spanish language to 7th and 8th grade students.
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet curriculum standards.
- Assess and evaluate student progress and provide feedback.
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Collaborate with other educators and staff to enhance student learning.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to improve teaching skills.
Requirements
- Current Washington State Teacher's certificate with appropriate subject area endorsement(s).
- Criminal background clearance as required by state and local authorities.
- All certificates, licenses, endorsements, permits, and vaccines (absent exemption) as required for this position.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience teaching Spanish at the middle school level.
- Familiarity with bilingual and biliterate education practices.
- Ability to integrate technology into the classroom.
