About the position

The Teacher - Spanish position at North Forney High School is a full-time role focused on providing 9th-grade students with engaging learning activities that promote their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The teacher will develop lesson plans, assess student learning, and create a conducive classroom environment while collaborating with other staff members to meet educational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency and board policies.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula/instruction as needed.
  • Collaborate with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  • Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s) if assigned.
  • Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  • Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students' development.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Establish and maintain open communication with parents, students, and colleagues.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned.
  • Knowledge of subjects/programs assigned.
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Student teaching or approved internship experience (preferred).

Benefits

  • Full-time salary range of $60,400 - $76,200 per year.
