About the position

The Teacher-Spanish position at the Cooperative Virtual Learning Academy (CVLA) is designed for an educator who will provide differentiated instruction in Spanish for students in grades 7-12. This role involves delivering lessons both synchronously and asynchronously, utilizing a supported virtual learning instructional and technology model. The teacher will have the flexibility to choose their physical location in consultation with BOCES, allowing for a tailored work environment that best suits their teaching style and needs. In this position, the educator will be responsible for curriculum instruction, supervision, and evaluation of students, ensuring that all activities align with New York State Learning Standards. The teacher will employ appropriate pedagogical strategies and instructional methods to engage students effectively in a virtual setting. Communication with BOCES and local school district administrators is essential to support students' learning experiences in the virtual environment. Collaboration is key in this role, as the teacher will work alongside other virtual faculty, administrators, and parents to build professional capacity within BOCES-supported virtual learning programs. The teacher must also ensure that their teaching environment is professional and equipped with suitable bandwidth to facilitate effective instruction. Continuous professional development is a critical component of this role, with opportunities for learning sessions provided throughout the year, including pre-instruction training and ongoing technical support.

Responsibilities

• Curriculum instruction, supervision and evaluation of students in a virtual learning environment in alignment with New York State Learning Standards.
• Utilizing appropriate pedagogy and instructional methods to engage students in a virtual setting.
• Communicating with applicable BOCES and local school district administrators to support students in the virtual learning environment.
• Working productively and collaboratively with other virtual faculty, administrators, and parents in BOCES-supported virtual learning programs to build professional capacity.
• Ensuring there is a professional visual environment and suitable bandwidth at the location from where the instruction is delivered.
• Engage in professional learning sessions throughout the year.

Requirements

• NYS Certification in Spanish 7-12
• Experience teaching a variety of Spanish courses in grades 7-12 preferred
• Experience teaching in a virtual setting preferred
