About the position

Spencer East Brookfield Regional School District is seeking a dynamic and qualified Spanish teacher to join our David Prouty Team. This full-time position is designed for an individual who is passionate about teaching and committed to preparing students for life, learning, and citizenship. The High School Spanish Teacher will play a crucial role in guiding the learning process to achieve established district curriculum goals. The teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality Spanish language instruction to students in grades 9-12, ensuring that all lessons, units, and projects are aligned with the curriculum requirements and state standards. In this role, the teacher will develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to various learning styles and utilize a variety of instructional strategies. The integration of technology and multimedia resources will be essential to enhance language learning and make lessons more interactive. The teacher will also be responsible for creating and maintaining a positive, orderly, and safe classroom environment that is conducive to learning. Establishing clear expectations for student behavior and managing classroom discipline effectively will be key components of this position. Assessment of student progress will be conducted through assignments, tests, quizzes, and projects, with the teacher maintaining accurate and complete records of student performance and attendance. The teacher will actively participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in language teaching and will communicate regularly with students, parents, and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities. Participation in parent-teacher conferences, school events, faculty meetings, and professional development sessions is also expected, along with collaboration with colleagues to contribute to a positive school culture. Adherence to school policies, procedures, and ethical standards is paramount in this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field with a focus on Spanish language instruction.
  • Valid teaching certification in Spanish for grades 9-12.
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in a high school setting, preferably in Spanish language instruction.
  • Strong knowledge of Spanish language and culture, as well as effective teaching methodologies.
