About the position

The Teacher, Special Assignment: Athletic Director at Edison High School is a pivotal role within the Fresno Unified School District, aimed at enhancing the educational experience through effective program implementation and coordination. This position requires a dedicated individual to assist the site Principal or other assigned supervisors in executing and managing identified programs that align with the district's educational goals. The Athletic Director will play a crucial role in fostering communication among school staff, students, parents, and the broader community, ensuring that everyone is informed and engaged in the educational process. In this role, the Athletic Director will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective communication channels with all stakeholders, including school site staff, students, parents, and community members. This involves articulating the goals, procedures, and objectives of the identified program clearly and effectively. The Athletic Director will also work to involve staff, students, and parents in achieving the program's goals, providing leadership and guidance to adjust the program to meet individual student needs. Monitoring the program's progress and ensuring timely delivery of services is essential, as is assisting with in-service training for teachers, parents, and other involved parties. The position also entails evaluating student progress through various assessment methods and ensuring that Limited English Proficient (LEP) students receive the core curriculum. The Athletic Director will coordinate school activities that promote the program's objectives and assist in budget monitoring to ensure compliance with State and Federal Programs. This role is integral to the district's mission of preparing career-ready graduates and fostering a culture of diversity and collaboration within the educational community.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain effective communication with school site staff, students, parents, and members of the school community.
  • Assist in communicating the goals, procedures, and objectives of the identified program to staff, students, and members of the public.
  • Assist in obtaining the involvement of staff, students, parents, and community members in achieving the stated goals and objectives of the school and the identified program.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in adjusting the program to meet individual student needs.
  • Monitor the program to ensure timely delivery of services.
  • Assist with in-service training for teachers, parents, paraprofessionals, tutors, and others involved in the program and at the school site.
  • Assist in testing and evaluating progress through various evaluation methods.
  • Ensure that LEP students receive the core curriculum by assisting teachers in planning SDAIE, evaluating student progress, and coordinating services for students.
  • Coordinate school activities to promote the goals and objectives of the identified program.
  • Assist in monitoring budgets and assuring compliance with State and Federal Programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Three years of classroom teaching experience at the appropriate level.
  • Valid California teaching credential authorizing instruction at the appropriate level.
