About the position

The district covers approximately 500 square miles and serves various communities, including Boulder, Erie, Louisville, Lafayette, Superior, Broomfield, Nederland, Ward, Jamestown, and Gold Hill. The Teacher-Special Education position at Centaurus High School is a part-time role (0.50 FTE, 20 hours per week) that requires a commitment to designing and delivering effective instruction tailored to students' individual learning needs. This role involves developing and authoring compliant Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and fostering seamless collaboration with general education staff, families, and the broader school environment. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for providing specialized instruction and research-based interventions in academics, behavior, social-emotional learning, and executive functioning. You will implement IEP services and behavior plans, manage the work of paraprofessionals and volunteers supporting IEP implementation, and coordinate all IEP meetings, ensuring compliance with regulations. Additionally, you will monitor student progress, collect and analyze data for eligibility determinations, and collaborate with families and staff to create an inclusive learning environment. Your role will also involve fostering a culture of equity and inclusion, understanding barriers in instructional practices, and developing positive relationships with parents to encourage their involvement in their children's education. Continuous professional development and participation in the evaluation process are also key components of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction and research-based intervention in academics, behavior, social emotional learning, and executive functioning.
  • Implement IEP services and behavior plans.
  • Manage and direct the work of paraprofessionals and/or volunteers who support IEP implementation.
  • Develop and implement an IEP for each student on the caseload, monitoring dates for compliance.
  • Coordinate all IEP meetings including annual, initial evaluations, re-evaluations, and additional meetings for students on the caseload.
  • Complete progress monitoring and coordinate progress reports for all students on their caseload, including those at report card times and at IEP reviews.
  • Collect and analyze data using multiple assessment tools for Initial and Re-evaluations to guide eligibility determinations and IEP development.
  • Collaborate with families, general education staff, paraprofessionals, and service providers on accommodations, instruction, grading, and meaningful inclusion.
  • Consult in the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) schoolwide process.
  • Create and foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment for all students.
  • Develop positive relationships with parents/families and encourage parental involvement in students' education.
  • Exhibit a growth mindset through participation in high-quality professional learning.

Requirements

  • Currently hold a Colorado teaching license or have licensure application in process with appropriate endorsement as Special Education Generalist or equivalent.
  • Completed and submitted BVSD online application.

Nice-to-haves

  • Skills and experience in collaboration and co-teaching with classroom teachers and support professionals.
  • Training or experience in serving English Language Learners (ELL) students.
  • Technology and software skills and experience (Infinite Campus and Frontline).
