About the position

The Teacher Special Programs (TSP) position at the University of California Berkeley involves teaching K-12 students in the Academic Talent Development Program (ATDP) during Summer 2025. Instructors, Co-Instructors, and Instructional Associates will be responsible for delivering courses in various subjects, engaging with students, and contributing to a diverse educational environment. The role is part-time and temporary, with appointments varying in length based on the course and division.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in the Academic Talent Development Program (ATDP) for K-12 students.
• Hold office hours to assist students with course material.
• Assign grades and write student evaluations.
• Advise students on academic matters.
• Attend faculty meetings and prepare course materials.
• Participate in required orientation sessions for students and parents.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree or equivalent international degree.
• Minimum three years of experience in a related content area.
• Demonstrated experience teaching diverse K-12 students in formal or informal settings.
• U.S. Teaching Credential or M.A. or equivalent international credential/degree or higher in related content area.
• Experience teaching academically advanced K-12 students in proposed subject matter.
• Experience developing and implementing student-centered or project-based curricula.
• Experience assessing student progress and utilizing evaluations for improvements.
• Experience teaching distance learning courses using synchronous and asynchronous formats.

Nice-to-haves

• Teaching experience in the subject matter field with diverse populations preferred.
