About the position

The St. Landry Parish School Board is seeking a dedicated and qualified Classroom Teacher for Regular Education/Special Education/Librarian roles. The ideal candidate will hold a valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate (Type C or Level 1) and possess a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field. This full-time position is designed to create an optimal learning environment for students, ensuring that they can learn and develop effectively. The teacher will report directly to the Principal and will be responsible for planning and implementing educational programs that meet the diverse needs of students. The teacher's primary goal is to establish instructional outcomes that clearly define what students are expected to learn. This includes writing measurable student learning targets and determining suitable instructional activities and resources. The teacher will also be responsible for assessing student progress and differentiating instruction to accommodate various learning abilities. The classroom environment will be managed efficiently, with established routines and procedures that maximize instructional time and promote student engagement. In addition to planning and preparation, the teacher will utilize effective questioning and discussion techniques to deepen student understanding. This involves using a range of questioning strategies to encourage critical thinking and facilitate meaningful discussions. The teacher will actively involve students in learning activities that align with lesson objectives, providing opportunities for choice and promoting student contributions to the class. Assessment is a key component of the instructional process, and the teacher will monitor student learning through various techniques, providing timely feedback and guidance. Professional responsibilities include regular attendance, effective communication with stakeholders, participation in professional development, and adherence to school policies. The teacher will also be expected to create partnerships with parents and caregivers to support student learning and school programs. Requirements
