About the position

The K-5th Grade Substitute Teacher at Ingenium Charter School is responsible for providing instructional support during teacher absences, ensuring continuity in the learning process for students. This role requires flexibility to teach various subjects and grade levels, fostering a positive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and collaboration. The teacher will implement lesson plans, assess student performance, and maintain communication with families to support academic and social-emotional success.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a substitute teacher for short or long-term teacher absences.
• Implement lesson plans with fidelity for short-term assignments.
• Design, implement, and monitor learning experiences for students during long-term assignments.
• Build relationships with students to foster a respectful and compassionate classroom culture.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Create a safe and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
• Utilize educational technology to enhance learning experiences.
• Observe and assess students' academic performance and behavior.
• Provide feedback to students and parents on progress.
• Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.
• Valid California multiple subjects teaching credential preferred.
• 30-Day Emergency Substitute Teaching Credential accepted.
• CPR/First Aid certification (provided by Ingenium post-hire).
• Experience in teaching and knowledge of effective teaching strategies.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with distance learning preferred.
• English Language Learner Authorization.
