About the position

The Teacher for World Language - Spanish at Talley Middle School is responsible for motivating students to develop competencies in the Spanish language, including aural comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing. This position requires the educator to tailor instruction according to each student's ability, ensuring that all students, including those with special needs, achieve academic growth. The teacher will create a supportive and engaging classroom environment that fosters positive learning experiences and encourages student participation. The role involves developing daily and unit lesson plans that are aligned with the curriculum and state content standards. The teacher must integrate technology into instructional delivery and maintain a pace of learning that accommodates student differences. Additionally, the teacher is expected to maintain accurate records of student achievement and behavioral performance, providing timely feedback to students and communicating effectively with parents. The educator will also be responsible for planning for substitute teachers when necessary and ensuring that lessons are relatable to the state content standards. The teacher must display a high level of professional conduct, participate in extra-curricular activities, and continue to grow as a professional through ongoing education and feedback from peers and administrators. Other duties may be assigned as needed to support the school and its students.

Responsibilities

  • Continue professional development through classes and workshops.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Education and/or Spanish.
  • Possess or be eligible for educator licensure and/or certification in Delaware in Spanish.
  • Mastery of necessary content knowledge and skills to teach assigned content area(s).
  • Proficiency in automated student information systems for progress and grade reporting.
  • Exceptional classroom management, organization, planning, and instructional delivery skills.
  • Ability to utilize differentiated instructional methods to engage students.
  • Outstanding ability to motivate and build relationships with students and parents.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with integrating technology into instructional delivery.
  • History of effective leadership and extra-curricular participation.
