About the position

The Brandywine School District is seeking a dedicated and passionate World Language Teacher specializing in Spanish for Brandywine High School. The successful candidate will be responsible for motivating students to develop competencies in aurally comprehending, speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish, tailored to each student's ability. This position is essential in fostering a positive learning environment that encourages student engagement and academic growth. The teacher will create and implement daily and unit lesson plans that are aligned with curriculum standards, integrating technology to enhance instructional delivery. The role requires maintaining a classroom environment that promotes student participation and achievement, while also ensuring that all students, including those with special needs, receive the support they need to succeed. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the teacher will be expected to maintain accurate records of student performance, complete progress reports, and communicate effectively with parents and staff. The position also involves planning for substitute teachers and ensuring that lessons are relatable to state content standards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional classroom management skills, the ability to motivate students, and a commitment to professional development. Participation in extra-curricular activities and leadership roles outside the classroom is encouraged to strengthen community partnerships and enhance student engagement.

Responsibilities

• Develop daily and unit lesson plans that are aligned with curriculum standards and integrate technology.
• Create and maintain a classroom environment that encourages student engagement and achievement.
• Maintain accurate records of student achievement and behavioral performance.
• Complete progress and grade reports promptly using automated systems.
• Promote a high rate of student interest and provide constructive feedback.
• Communicate effectively with parents and collaborate with staff.
• Plan for substitute teachers and ensure lessons relate to state content standards.
• Participate in extra-curricular activities and leadership roles outside the classroom.
• Continue professional development through classes and workshops.

Requirements

• Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Education and/or Spanish.
• Possess or be eligible for educator licensure and/or certification in Delaware in Spanish.
• Mastery of necessary content knowledge and skills to teach assigned content area(s) and grade level(s).
• Proficiency in automated student information systems for progress and grade reporting.
• Exceptional classroom management, organization, planning, and instructional delivery skills.
• Ability to utilize differentiated instructional methods to engage students.
• Outstanding ability to motivate and build relationships with students and parents.
