About the position

The Teacher position is a part-time role focused on providing a safe and engaging learning environment for students in an after-school setting. The role involves creating lesson plans, implementing instructional activities, and addressing the academic and social-emotional needs of students. The program emphasizes STEM education and aims to enhance students' foundational skills in reading and math while promoting healthy living and critical thinking.

Responsibilities

  • Create lesson plans and implement instructional activities that engage students in meaningful learning experiences.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and offer plans for improvement.
  • Maintain effective and efficient record-keeping procedures.
  • Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment.
  • Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and the community.
  • Ensure that student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for the age group and subject area.
  • Assume responsibility for meeting course and school-wide student performance goals.
  • Demonstrate gains in student performance.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Physical Education and Recreation, Child Development, Child Guidance/Counseling, Child Psychology, Family Studies, Social Work, Human Services, Youth Development or related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in an educational setting or equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
  • Teaching Certificate required at date of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • 16 clock hours of training throughout the year required within one year from date of hire.
