About the position

The Teacher position at Family and Child Learning Centers in Antigo, Wisconsin, is responsible for providing a safe and nurturing educational environment for Head Start children. The role focuses on promoting the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of children, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations, and facilitating their transition into kindergarten. The teacher will develop individualized goals, assess progress, and engage parents in the educational process.

Responsibilities

  • Actively supervise and monitor children to ensure their safety at all times.
  • Take daily child attendance and conduct frequent head counts.
  • Implement a system for accurate CACFP Meal Counts at point of service.
  • Promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of Head Start children.
  • Provide a quality learning environment that encourages parental involvement.
  • Adapt curriculum to meet individual goals as identified in children's education plans.
  • Assess individual and group needs, addressing special needs and interests.
  • Develop and utilize integrated curriculum plans reflecting child outcomes and cultural influences.
  • Create weekly lesson plans and goals for individual and group experiences.
  • Prepare classroom materials to support developmentally appropriate curriculum plans.
  • Implement positive child guidance and behavior management strategies.
  • Follow a consistent schedule including various group experiences and activities.
  • Encourage experimentation, exploration, problem solving, cooperation, and socialization among children.
  • Participate in developmental screenings and referral processes within 45 days of enrollment.
  • Document baseline and ongoing assessments of children in TS GOLD.
  • Complete educational home visits and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding each child's progress.
  • Work with agencies to develop specialized services for children as needed.
  • Document significant classroom issues, parent contacts, and home visits.
  • Report suspected child abuse and neglect.
  • Engage in ongoing cleaning and sanitizing of the classroom.

  • Skill in dealing with sensitive family situations professionally.
