About the position

The Teacher position in Early Childhood Education (ECE) is designed to provide developmentally appropriate care and education for children, adhering to established principles of early childhood education. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with regulations set forth by The Office of Early Childhood Daycare, the National Association for the Education of Young Children Accreditation Standards, and the Child and Adult Care Food Program. The teacher will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and educational environment that fosters the growth and development of young children. In this role, the teacher will supervise children at all times, ensuring their safety and well-being in accordance with the CRT Supervision Handbook. This includes maintaining appropriate teacher-to-child ratios, conducting regular safety checks, and completing necessary paperwork such as attendance and health checklists. The teacher will also be responsible for the overall cleanliness and organization of the classroom and playground, ensuring a safe working environment by following agency safety procedures. The educational program is a key component of this position, where the teacher will develop and implement a curriculum that aligns with CRT policies and procedures. This includes collaborating with the Instructional Leader to address the needs of children with special requirements and establishing behavioral strategies for those facing challenges. The teacher will also engage with families, fostering professional relationships and encouraging their participation in multicultural activities, thereby recognizing and celebrating cultural diversity. Additionally, the teacher will ensure compliance with the Child and Adult Care Food Program, overseeing meal counts and portions to meet program standards. This position requires a commitment to providing a high-quality educational experience for children while maintaining a collaborative and respectful environment with families and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure children are supervised by sight and sound at all times as stated in CRT Supervision Handbook.
  • Comply with and enforce CRT Supervision Policy and Procedures, including maintaining appropriate teacher to child ratios and group sizes.
  • Attend team meetings, CRT trainings, Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings, Parent Teacher Conferences, and other required meetings.
  • Complete required paperwork in a timely manner, including accident/incident reports, daily safety checklists, and attendance records.
  • Maintain overall safety, sanitation, and cleanliness of the classroom at all times.
  • Organize the classroom and playground to be free from clutter and hazards.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by following all agency safety procedures.
  • Provide a developmentally appropriate curriculum and daily plan in accordance with assigned CRT curriculum.
  • Collaborate with the Instructional Leader to understand and address the needs of special needs children.
  • Establish behavioral strategies for children with behavioral challenges.
  • Implement Individual Education Plans (IEP) as needed.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with families and children daily.
  • Model positive guidance techniques with all children in accordance with CRT policies.
  • Recognize and celebrate cultural diversity in daily routines and engage families in multicultural activities.
  • Ensure compliance with the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) standards.

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of an Associate Degree in any field and 12 Early Childhood Education Credits.
  • Minimum CT Charts a Course Ladder Level of 9 required.
  • Two to four years of classroom experience working with children in a state-licensed program preferred.
  • Ability to work on a team and share ideas for intervention with children and families.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data collection.
  • First Aid for Children, CPR Certification, and Administration of Medication preferred.
  • Candidate must be a minimum of 18 years of age.

Nice-to-haves
