About the position

The Teaching Assistant for the Automotive Program at Austin Community College provides essential instructional support to faculty and students in the automotive field. This role is crucial for maintaining the smooth operation of the automotive program, ensuring that students receive the necessary guidance and resources to succeed in their studies and practical applications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform automotive program office duties in support of faculty, staff, and students, including word processing, data entry, maintaining files, processing mail, and duplication.
  • Gather, compile, and enter data, producing routine reports and documents.
  • Produce handouts, fliers, newsletters, brochures, manuals, and other documents.
  • Operate automotive lab/shop equipment as necessary to support automotive instruction.

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of non-teaching, directly related automotive repair experience within the last 10 years.
  • Must be ASE Automobile Master certified (A1 - A8).
  • Must have a current valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • 10 or more years of automotive repair experience.
  • Currently working in an automotive repair shop.
  • Automotive program teaching experience.
