About the position
The Team Lead - Assembly position at Hitachi Global Air Power is a front-line leadership role responsible for overseeing assembly operations, ensuring production targets are met while promoting safety, quality, and teamwork. The role involves resource allocation, problem-solving, and training team members, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the production process.
Responsibilities
- Assist Supervisor in day-to-day resource allocation to achieve production targets.
- Lead the team in Supervisor's absence.
- Identify, develop, and implement best practices in safety, quality, on-time delivery, and cost reduction.
- Communicate work priorities based on customer needs and resource availability.
- Ensure the team has necessary parts, tools, information, and instructions.
- Remove barriers to production with urgency.
- Use problem-solving skills and root cause analysis to resolve operational issues.
- Assist in training employees on weekly safety topics and ensure compliance with safety policies.
- Read and interpret basic engineering drawings and work instructions.
- Train others to perform all production tasks in the assigned area.
- Understand quality specifications and inspection criteria, and train others accordingly.
- Identify product defects and complete documentation when defects are found.
- Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts and overhead cranes.
- Maintain inventory control through accurate transactions.
- Promote a culture of inclusion and teamwork.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or post high school training preferred.
- Ability to work as a team member and lead a team with minimal supervision.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to determine root causes of problems and prevent reoccurrences.
- Willingness to cross-train and train others.
Nice-to-haves
- Supply Chain Management certification, such as CLA and CLT.
