About the position
The position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Orthopedics unit at Memorial Hospital Belleville, focusing on providing direct patient care and coordinating activities within the unit. The RN will be responsible for teaching pre-operative classes, assessing patient needs, and collaborating with an interprofessional team to develop and implement individualized care plans. This role emphasizes professional development and offers opportunities for career advancement through the BJC RN Career Ladder.
Responsibilities
- Facilitates identification and resolution of gaps in care from hospitalization, at discharge, and into the ambulatory care setting.
- Critically assess patient data to proactively mitigate impending changes in condition and establish consults to the interprofessional team as appropriate.
- Leads the development and implementation of complex individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team and the patient, family, or caregiver.
- Actively utilizes and champions scientific inquiry for evidence-based practices, including participation in journal clubs and facilitating practice changes based on new knowledge.
- Explores opportunities to advance nursing practice through community service events and participation in advisory boards or committees.
- Analyzes gaps in practice standards and provides feedback to peers to enhance safe patient care.
- Leads the evaluation of the patient and family experience, adjusting care provided to improve patient satisfaction and quality of care.
Requirements
- 2 Years Current RN Experience
- Nursing Diploma/Associate's in Nursing
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
Nice-to-haves
- BSN Degree
- 5-10 years of nursing experience
- Current Orthopedic RN Experience
