The Team Leader will be expected to take on a leadership role within the engineering team to provide engineering and design services to clients and will coordinate with engineers, project managers, clients and other disciplines to deliver on schedule and on budget projects. The role involves training and mentoring junior staff in their office as well as managing workload for the team. The Team Lead will lead the engineering and production team through the planning and design of civil engineering projects, ensuring effective execution and quality assurance. In this position, the Team Lead will receive broad guidance from senior-level management relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters. They will assist with marketing the firm's capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing developers, builders, and government agencies. The Team Lead will also be responsible for client interaction, including preparation of new contract proposals, change orders, and leading project meetings. They will apply their knowledge and expertise to resolve crucial issues and manage competing demands while establishing priorities for staff. The role requires a commitment to promoting the reputation of the company through quality of work and attention to detail, as well as a focus on driving profitability and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering and design services to clients.
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, clients, and other disciplines to deliver projects on schedule and on budget.
  • Train and mentor junior staff in the office.
  • Manage workload for the engineering team.
  • Lead the planning and design of civil engineering projects.
  • Assist with marketing the firm's capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing clients.
  • Execute project contracts and develop internal staff.
  • Develop processes and provide input on achieving operational excellence.
  • Keep informed of new methods and developments affecting the organization.
  • Represent the organization and maintain liaison with individuals and related organizations.
  • Drive the profitability and growth of projects.
  • Manage competing demands and establish priorities for staff.
  • Be responsible for client interaction, including preparation of new contract proposals and change orders.
  • Lead and manage current project teams from bid until completion.
  • Review project changes and manage staffing requirements or budget adjustments.
  • Provide technical assistance in the resolution of design problems.
  • Act as the technical specialist for the organization in advanced concepts and methods.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Ten or more (10+) years of engineering or related land development experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years managing multiple complex large scale land development projects.
  • Experience with water/wastewater systems, water treatment, water distribution, and pump stations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with civil engineering design software such as AutoCAD and/or Civil3D.
