About the position

Bowman has an exciting opportunity for a Team Lead in Civil Engineering to join our dynamic team in San Marcos, TX. In this role, you will be expected to take on a leadership position within the engineering team, providing engineering and design services to our clients. You will coordinate with engineers, project managers, clients, and other disciplines to ensure that projects are delivered on schedule and within budget. Your responsibilities will include training and mentoring junior staff, managing the workload for the team, and leading the engineering and production team through the planning and design phases of civil engineering projects. As a Team Leader, you will receive broad guidance from senior-level management regarding key objectives, critical issues, and policy matters. You will manage people and processes to ensure effective execution of projects, reviewing work produced by staff for quality assurance. Additionally, you will assist in marketing the firm's capabilities to establish new client relationships and enhance existing ones with developers, builders, and government agencies. Your role will also involve executing project contracts, developing internal staff, and contributing to operational excellence within the office. You will apply your knowledge and expertise to resolve crucial issues and manage competing demands while establishing priorities for your staff. Client interaction will be a significant part of your role, including preparing new contract proposals, change orders, and leading project meetings. You will mentor junior staff, coordinate with project managers, and be responsible for goal setting and performance management of the engineering team. Your technical assistance will be crucial in resolving design problems, conducting field investigations, and ensuring the successful completion of projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the engineering team to deliver civil engineering projects on time and within budget.
  • Train and mentor junior staff, managing their workload and professional development.
  • Assist with marketing efforts to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing clients.
  • Review work produced by staff for quality assurance and provide guidance on best practices.
  • Manage project contracts and ensure effective execution through administration and technical techniques.
  • Represent the organization in client meetings and maintain liaison with related organizations.
  • Drive profitability and growth of projects by managing competing demands and establishing priorities.
  • Provide technical assistance in resolving design problems and conducting field investigations.
  • Lead project teams from bid until completion, while looking to obtain future business opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Ten or more years of engineering or related land development experience, including a minimum of five years managing complex large-scale land development projects.
  • Experience with water/wastewater systems, water treatment, water distribution, and pump stations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with civil engineering design software such as AutoCAD and/or Civil3D.
