About the position

The Team Lead position at the Dyehard Tar Heel Store in Chapel Hill, NC, is a vital role that supports the Department Manager(s) or Store Manager in various operational aspects of the store. This position is responsible for receiving, pricing, and stocking merchandise to ensure that the store meets the needs of its customers while driving sales and profits. The Team Lead will work closely with team members to assist them in completing their tasks efficiently and effectively. This includes ensuring that all team members receive the necessary training and education, particularly ongoing compliance training, to maintain high standards of service and operational excellence. As a leader on duty, the Team Lead will respond to customer and team member concerns in the absence of the Store Manager. This includes taking charge of opening and closing the store, ensuring that all bookstore property is secure, and that team members are safe. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to lead by example, fostering a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and collaboration. The Team Lead will also be expected to maintain a flexible schedule, which may include evening and weekend hours, to meet the operational needs of the store.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, price, and stock merchandise to meet customer needs.
  • Assist team members in completing their work within the store.
  • Ensure all team members receive appropriate training and ongoing compliance training.
  • Act as leader on duty in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Respond to customer and team member concerns effectively.
  • Open and close the store, ensuring safety and security of property and team members.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to consistently walk and stand, lift 25-50 pounds, and move merchandise using proper equipment.
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to create and save text documents and send emails.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
