About the position

The Team Leader for the 2nd shift VDC at Trane Technologies is responsible for leading a production team in a manufacturing environment, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency in operations. This role involves hands-on support in assembly and welding tasks, training new team members, and coordinating workflow to meet production goals. The Team Leader acts as a champion for safety and quality, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate an absolute commitment to safety and model safe behavior; act as safety champion for the team.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to quality; act as quality champion for the team.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all jobs within the team; coordinate job rotation and flexing of team members to ensure workflow and production goals are met.
  • Effectively communicate with associates at all levels including material handlers and production leaders.
  • Understand operational excellence and comply with standard work requirements for the team leader position.
  • Update MDI boards and maintain simple metrics and prioritization.
  • Recommend work schedules and coordinate workforce planning.
  • Conduct job hazard assessments and simple EHS related tasks.
  • Develop and encourage team members to meet performance goals.
  • Improve the line through simple problem solving.
  • Support the manufacturing process through technical skills such as welding or assembly.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2 years or more manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience influencing others.
  • Knowledge and application of Lean Principles.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Ability to train others.
  • Good written and oral interpersonal communication skills.
  • Team-focused and cooperative across teams and shifts.
  • Demonstrated sustained exemplary performance in attitude, attendance, and ability.
  • Knowledge of OPEX preferred.
  • Initiative and creativity in problem solving.
  • Ability to promote a clear quality vision.
  • Ability to promote continuous improvement in products, services, and processes.
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of TLDP or another Leadership training course.
