About the position

The Team Leader Audio Engineering at Garmin International, Inc. is responsible for leading a team of engineers and technicians in the development and execution of audio engineering objectives. This role involves managing project timelines, ensuring quality goals are met, and fostering collaboration across departments to support product development plans.

Responsibilities

  • Directs/supervises an Audio Engineering and Technician team by tracking, managing, and supporting the requirements and timelines of multiple projects.
  • Implements/executes department strategies and initiatives through development and adherence to process documentation.
  • Creates effective staffing plans by conducting annual performance evaluations, coaching team members, and participating in the hiring of new associates.
  • Confers with Management to align and understand Purchasing, Manufacturing, Quality and Development team's needs.
  • Creates Audio Engineering processes to support successful departmental and interdepartmental functioning.
  • Manages the development of team members by providing training, feedback, support, and mentorship.
  • Participates in design reviews, attends meetings, and ensures information is shared with the team.
  • Participates in college campus interviewing and other recruiting activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a technical role performing duties similar to the functions of this team.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of engineering and manufacturing processes and documentation.
  • Knowledge of Garmin's product lines and customer needs.
  • Proficient broad technical knowledge and skills in various areas of Engineering (ex. analog, digital, RF, and/or DSP).
  • Detailed knowledge and experience with testing equipment and software tools for electronics design, testing and documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical engineering field.
  • 10+ years industry experience in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering role.
