About the position

The Team Leader Audio Engineering position at Garmin International involves leading a team of engineers and technicians to develop and implement audio engineering objectives, ensuring that design and quality goals align with business plans. The role requires effective management of multiple projects, fostering collaboration across departments, and mentoring team members to enhance their technical careers.

Responsibilities

  • Directs/supervises an Audio Engineering and Technician team by tracking, managing, and supporting the requirements and timelines of multiple projects.
  • Implements/executes department strategies and initiatives through development and adherence to process documentation.
  • Creates effective staffing plans by conducting annual performance evaluations and participating in the hiring of new associates.
  • Confers with Management to align and understand the needs of Purchasing, Manufacturing, Quality, and Development teams.
  • Creates Audio Engineering processes to support successful departmental and interdepartmental functioning.
  • Manages the development of team members by providing training, feedback, support, and mentorship.
  • Participates in design reviews and ensures good design practices are followed.
  • Participates in college campus interviewing and other recruiting activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a technical role performing duties similar to the functions of this team.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering and manufacturing processes and documentation.
  • Knowledge of Garmin's product lines and customer needs.
  • Demonstrated proficient broad technical knowledge and skills in various areas of Engineering (ex. analog, digital, RF, and/or DSP).
  • Demonstrated detailed knowledge and experience with testing equipment and software tools for electronics design, testing, and documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage technical human resources.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical engineering field.
  • 10+ years industry experience in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering role.
