About the position

The Team Leader - Operations role at Blue Diamond Growers is focused on leading teams to achieve success in key operational areas including Safety, Quality, Service, Performance, and People. The position involves providing direction, setting goals, and offering feedback to direct reports to meet production requirements and ensure quality control. The Team Leader collaborates with management to drive continuous improvement initiatives and supports sustainable operations goals.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Plant Operations Manager to establish and execute measurable operations and people goals.
  • Sets clear expectations and targets for a high-performing team.
  • Measures and reports targets delivered through team leadership.
  • Organizes team and processes to meet daily production targets.
  • Coordinates staffing and training to maintain a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Trains team to anticipate problems and leads root cause analysis when needed.
  • Coaches the production team towards common objectives and participates in team meetings.
  • Applies recognition and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Develops team members for future growth and succession planning.
  • Implements production cost standards, customer quality standards, and safety compliance standards.
  • Acts as a resource for team training and tools to meet standards.
  • Stays updated on technology through trade shows and seminars.
  • Contributes to employee training programs, including GMPs and safety.
  • Drives 'Zero Harm' safety culture through training and communication.
  • Conducts investigations, writes reports, and works on special projects as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university/college.
  • 3 years of experience leading and directing teams in a production/operations environment.
  • Proactive team player with effective leadership skills.
  • Ability to function effectively as a leader or member in a team environment.
  • Self-starter with a strong motivation to improve production processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability through recognizing and utilizing team capabilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Food manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement methodologies (LEAN, TPM).
  • Technical knowledge of food processing equipment.
  • Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and associated tools.
  • Knowledge of Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards and requirements.
