About the position

The Team Leader, Product Designer for Rocket Money's Platform group is a strategic role focused on overseeing the design strategy and execution for various app features. This position requires a deep understanding of the fintech industry and involves leading a team of designers to create seamless, data-driven user experiences. The role emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams to align on product vision and ensure that design choices are informed by user research and data analytics.

Responsibilities

• Develop and drive the Platform product vision and strategy in alignment with business objectives and user needs.
• Coordinate design resources and prioritize projects based on strategic goals and team capacity.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, researchers, and other stakeholders to align on product vision and ensure design feasibility.
• Lead, manage, and mentor a small team of designers, fostering growth and collaboration.
• Maintain and evolve the end-to-end design process to ensure efficient workflows and high-quality outputs.
• Champion user-centered design principles to create intuitive and accessible experiences.
• Utilize data analytics and user feedback to inform and iterate on design choices.
• Present design concepts and strategies to senior leadership, articulating design rationale.
• Design, create, and test prototypes to validate user needs and refine design solutions.
• Maintain and evolve the company's design system for consistency and efficiency.
• Drive continuous innovation to enhance user engagement with Rocket Money's services.
• Stay informed of industry trends and design best practices to elevate the product and team capabilities.
• Participate in the recruitment process to onboard top design talent.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience in user experience design or a similar role.
• At least 2 years of experience in a design management role.
• Proficiency in Figma and familiarity with similar tools like Sketch.
• Strong understanding of how design translates into code and effective communication with engineering teams.
• Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives from concept to completion while mentoring team members.
• Empathy and leadership skills to consider user impact and foster a collaborative environment.
• Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in the fintech industry.
• Familiarity with user research methodologies and testing.
