About the position

The Production Team Leader directs shift activities, compounding and manufacturing processes of products to meet customer specifications and schedule requirements. They coordinate the activities of the Production shift to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks. Act as a liaison between the lab, production, logistics, and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and organize shift activities based on schedule and assignment communications provided by Production Leader.
  • Communicates to leadership any gaps in achieving daily goals.
  • Communicates shift to shift transfer of ongoing production schedule at beginning of shift and send report of progress at shifts end to the Leadership Group.
  • Follows all procedures that include compounding, set up, extrusion, and change over.
  • Safely operates and understands all required production equipment necessary for successful completion of tasks.
  • Follows and clarifies production processing specifications.
  • Complete or ensure that all QT testing requirements are being accomplished.
  • Determines causes of operation errors by troubleshooting.
  • Safely operates power industrial vehicles.
  • Effectively communicates with other departments to assure product conformance.
  • Records processing specifications and labor hours.
  • Facilitates the daily execution for Work Force Development (WFD) and training activities.
  • Works closely with Production Manager to develop individual training plans.
  • Assigns trainers and evaluators to carry out Work Force Development activities.
  • Effectively communicates company policies and procedures.
  • Effectively manages performance by addressing, correcting, coaching and developing people.
  • Contributes to organization success by meeting team and company goals.
  • Participates and contributes on the plant leadership team.
  • Follows all quality system and safety protocols.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar industry (e.g., color, plastics, paints/inks, etc.).
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, equipment, machines and tools.
  • Knowledge of production processes and techniques for effective manufacture of products.
  • Knowledge of compound formulation and ability to evaluate color (Hue, Chroma, and Shade).
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing exceptional customer service.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, and procedures that promote safety.
  • Fundamental knowledge of quality controls and continuous improvement applications.
  • Knowledge and application of arithmetic, algebra, and geometry.
  • Computer literate to include knowledge and application of information and data management systems.
  • Valid driver's license with reliable automobile transportation.
  • Tow Motor Forklift certification.
