About the position

The position involves investigating factory quality problems and addressing customer and consumer complaints through a variety of skills and techniques. Responsibilities include conducting performance testing, seam evaluations, coating performance tests, microscopy and metallography, plant trials, and beverage/food processing simulations. The role requires providing detailed reports with clear conclusions and recommendations based on findings. Additionally, the candidate will manage and record work requests using appropriate IT systems, ensuring that business needs are met effectively and efficiently. This includes prioritizing work, collaborating with the Technical Support Team, maintaining proactive communication with stakeholders, and regularly reviewing work for value-added opportunities. The candidate will also contribute to the wider activities of Materials and Crown Technology, focusing on environmental, health, and safety initiatives, as well as participating in development and innovation teams and workshops.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate factory quality problems and customer complaints using various techniques.
  • Conduct performance testing, seam evaluations, coating performance tests, microscopy, and metallography.
  • Perform plant trials and beverage/food processing simulations.
  • Provide reports with clear conclusions and recommendations.
  • Manage and record work requests using appropriate IT systems.
  • Prioritize work to meet business needs effectively.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Support Team to allocate resources efficiently.
  • Liaise with other teams and external resources to establish root causes of problems.
  • Maintain proactive communication with stakeholders.
  • Regularly review work for value-added opportunities and update reports accordingly.
  • Prepare monthly reports.
  • Contribute to environmental, health, and safety initiatives.
  • Participate in development and innovation teams as required.
  • Engage in workshops.

Requirements

  • Degree in science or engineering subject or several years of relevant experience in a similar technical support role.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a laboratory or manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal/verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and plan multiple work requests.
  • Customer-focused problem solver.
  • Self-starter with minimal supervision, effective team member.
  • Diligent with attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn and apply new techniques quickly and effectively.
  • Enjoys a balance of practical work, job management, and reporting.
  • Fluency in English.
