About the position

The Team Leader at Tractor Supply Company plays a crucial role in assisting the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in achieving operational, sales, and merchandising objectives. This position is centered around delivering a Legendary Customer Experience, which is a core value of the company. The Team Leader is responsible for fostering a safe and productive work environment for all team members, customers, and vendors. This includes training team members on the appropriate application of company policies and procedures, ensuring that everyone is aligned with the company's mission to improve the lives of their neighbors and teams. In this role, the Team Leader must be available, flexible, adaptable, and service-oriented, as they are expected to fulfill various responsibilities throughout their shifts. These responsibilities include maintaining regular attendance, working varied hours, and upholding safety standards. The Team Leader is also tasked with delivering exceptional customer service by following the GURA principles: Greeting the Customer, Uncovering Customer's Needs & Wants, Recommending Product Solutions, and Asking to Add Value & Appreciate the Customer. The Team Leader's daily activities will involve executing merchandising activities, performing opening and closing procedures, managing store conditions, and organizing workflow. They will also handle customer complaints, ensure compliance with loss prevention standards, and supervise cash handling procedures. Additionally, the Team Leader will be responsible for the care of birds and poultry, which includes sanitizing and maintaining holding tanks. This position requires a hands-on approach, as the Team Leader will operate equipment such as forklifts and balers, and must be prepared to perform various duties as assigned by management.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in operational, sales, and merchandising objectives.
  • Deliver a Legendary Customer Experience by following the GURA principles.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance and work scheduled shifts.
  • Uphold and promote a safe and productive work environment by enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Execute assigned basic, promotional, and seasonal merchandising activities.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures for the store.
  • Transport and make deposits to the bank as required.
  • Assess store conditions and assign duties to team members.
  • Organize and prioritize workflow using a daily planner.
  • Participate in mandatory freight processes and perform regular price change activities.
  • Resolve customer complaints and ensure a positive shopping experience.
  • Adhere to loss prevention standards and respond to alarm calls as needed.
  • Communicate job functions and responsibilities to team members.
  • Operate cash register and supervise cash handling procedures.
  • Assist team members with the application of policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of birds and maintain poultry holding tanks.
  • Operate forklifts and balers as required.

Requirements

  • Retail experience and/or knowledge in farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding is strongly preferred.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to read, write, and count accurately.
