About the position

The Team Member position at Tractor Supply Company is a vital role that focuses on delivering exceptional customer service while supporting various selling initiatives. Team Members are expected to maintain regular attendance and work scheduled shifts, which may include varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as dictated by business needs. In this role, Team Members will engage in a variety of essential duties that make up 95 percent of their daily activities. These duties include operating the cash register and following established cash handling procedures, recovering merchandise, participating in the mandatory freight process, and completing merchandising tasks such as plan-o-gram procedures. Additionally, Team Members will be responsible for assembling merchandise, performing janitorial duties, executing price changes and markdowns, and assisting customers with loading their purchases. A unique aspect of this role involves ensuring the safety and well-being of birds, which includes sanitizing and maintaining poultry holding tanks as required. Team Members must also complete all necessary documentation associated with their job duties and may be assigned other tasks as needed. The ideal candidate for this position should possess a high school diploma, although no prior experience is required. Preferred qualifications include knowledge of farming, ranching, pet/equine care, or welding, as well as strong communication and problem-solving skills. Basic computer skills and the ability to read, write, and count accurately are essential for success in this role. Team Members must also demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict. The working environment is generally favorable, with most tasks performed indoors in a moderately noisy setting. Team Members will encounter hard surfaces such as concrete and asphalt, and the lighting and temperature conditions are adequate for work. Shifts may vary in length, typically lasting no less than four hours and potentially exceeding eight hours. Team Members are expected to promote a safe and productive work environment, adhering to company safety training and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with customers and team members to provide legendary customer service.
  • Support selling initiatives by greeting customers, uncovering their needs, recommending products, and asking for the sale.
  • Operate cash register/computer following cash handling procedures.
  • Recover merchandise and participate in mandatory freight processes.
  • Complete plan-o-gram procedures including merchandising, sets, and resets.
  • Assemble merchandise and perform janitorial duties as needed.
  • Execute price changes and markdowns accurately.
  • Assist customers with loading their purchases and ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Sanitize and maintain poultry holding tanks and care for birds as required.
  • Complete all documentation associated with job duties.

Requirements
